TU Allen Chapman Student Union Second-Floor Renovation
The renovation was performed during the University’s brief summer break. After construction documents were complete, the project team performed a field investigation and identified practical ways to achieve the Owner’s program within the short project schedule. Pre-construction work began nearly six months prior to the commencement of fieldwork.
The project included a complete second-floor renovation over an occupied first floor. The only access to the second-floor work area was through upper floor windows. Demolition operations, material hoisting and material waste removal were all performed through exterior window openings. The renovation included new administrative offices, a large classroom, seminar spaces, tall operable partitions, a state-of-the-art audio/visual interface, low voltage systems and common areas.
